German-born Ghanaian international, Derrick Kohn has been included in the Black Stars squad ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
Kohn just joined Bundesliga side Union Berlin for a reported fee just under €5 million from Turkish side Galatasaray in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Kohn is already well-acquainted with German football, having spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Werder Bremen. During that spell, he featured in 30 Bundesliga matches and impressed with his athleticism and offensive contributions, leaving a strong impression that caught Union Berlin’s attention.
In the ongoing season, he’s made one appearance already for his new club Union Berlin having come off the bench to play 23 minutes in their 2-1 home win over VfB Stuttgart in their opening game of the new Bundesliga season.
The Black Stars have 15 points so far in the qualifiers after six matches having won five and lost one and are currently sitting at the summit of Group I
They will face Chad on Thursday, September 4, before they host Mali four days later in match-day 7 and 8 respectively
