Rakotondrabe Romuald has been appointed as the new head coach of the Madagascar national team ahead of their upcoming match against the Black Stars of Ghana.

Romuald will be replacing Nicolas Dupuis, who recently resigned as the head coach of the Barea.

The newly appointed coach is no stranger to the Malagasy national team, having previously led them to the CHAN tournament in Algeria.

The official statement from the Malagasy Football Federation reads as follows:

"The Malagasy Football Federation is pleased to announce the appointment of Rakotondrabe Romuald as the new coach to lead the Barea national team for our final two games in the AFCON qualifiers.

Rakotondrabe Romuald, a Malagasy coach who has brought great honor to our nation during the recent CHAN tournament, has the experience and strategic vision to inspire the national team, establish a new foundation, and strengthen our pursuit of success on the field.

Rakotondrabe Romuald Felix is ready to take on his role and work closely with the players, technical staff, and supporters of the Malagasy national team. Together, we will strive for success and do everything possible to achieve our common goal."

Madagascar is set to face Ghana in Antananarivo on June 18th. Ghana currently leads Group E with 8 points after four games, while Madagascar sits at the bottom with 1 point. In their previous encounter on June 1st, 2022, Ghana defeated Madagascar 3-0.
