Ghana legend, Dan Owusu has stated that Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Felix Afena-Gyan are not up to the standard of the Black Stars.
Ghana lost to Brazil by 3-0 before making amends against Nicaragua in an international friendly.
Ghana defeated Nicaragua by a-lone goal on Tuesday. Issahaku Abdul Fatawu spectacular strike was enough to win the game.
US Cremonese striker, Felix Afena-Gyan made his Black Stars debut in Ghana's stalemate with Nigeria in March this year.
Hearts of Oak marksman, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was also called-up ahead of the friendly with Brazil and Nicaragua.
Otto Addo is under pressure after abysmal performance since qualifying for the World Cup.
Dan Owusu believes that both Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Felix Afena-Gyan are below the standard of the Black Stars.
“I joined the Black Stars as a young player but I didn’t get playing time because there were senior players. When they faded out, we succeeded them, and that is how national team should be," he told Bryt FM.
“Afriyie is doing well but I think this is not the time to play him at the Black Stars. He is very smallish and players like that normally struggle," he noted.
"To me, it is about being with the team for long and knowing the philosophy.
“Both Barnieh and Afena-Gyan are not up to the national team level. I think they should just under study the senior players and I believe with time, they will get there," he added.
