Former Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan says Dede Ayew is not his friend but insists that they were just teammates.
The media have reportedly revealed over the years that Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew have fractious relationship.
The media also revealed a disjointed Black Stars with the Asamoah Gyan clique on one-side and the Dede Ayew faction on the other.
The cold-blood between them reached it all time high when then Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah stripped Asamoah Gyan of the captains armband for Dede Ayew ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Both Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew featured for Ghana together for more than a decade.
After several years, Asamoah Gyan has finally confirmed that he's not a friend of Dede Ayew but says they were just teammates.
"Andre (Ayew) is not my friend but a teammate, I have my friends that we vibe and all that," he told Wontumi TV.
"I must confess that I have a good relationship with him, we sometimes talk about boxing matches but he is not my close friend. We have not talked to each other since my absence from the Black Stars," he added.
Dede Ayew will lead Ghana to the World Cup in Qatar next month.
36-year-old Asamoah Gyan has revealed his intention to play at the World Cup although he's featured for any team since leaving Legon Cities at the end of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.
