Former Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kojo Bonsu, has told the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to appoint current technical advisor of the Black Stars Chris Hughton as new Black Stars head coach.

Otto Addo prior to the World Cup hinted that he could leave his role as Ghana coach after the goal showpiece, which he has since left his role as head coach of the team.

The 47-year-old said he does not see himself relocating to Ghana anytime soon, which is a requisite for any national team coach.

The Borussia Dortmund assistant gaffer led the Black Stars to qualify to the 2022 World Cup but was dumped out of the tournament after finishing bottom of Group H.

“I’m in for either a local or expatriate, but also, a coach who is well committed to the team, and let’s pay him well. We like cheap labour and we need to avoid that stuff and allow the coach to make his own selections of players," Bonsu told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

“I will personally go in for Chris Hughton ahead of the current coaches we have if only the man is willing to do the job.

"We have numerous players that are very good and with a great coach, the team will go further. We should scout for a better coach and allow him to appoint his own assistant coaches," he added.
