The 36-year-old has washed down incessant assertions that he intends to make a return to the Black Stars and feature in the World Cup in Qatar.

 

For months now there has been rife reportage that the Ghanaian legend is bent on making a return to lead the attack of the senior national team, as goals seems to have eluded the various strikers in the team.

 

However, in an interview with Angel Sports, he insisted he was undeniably misquoted.

 

"I never said I will play for the Black Stars. I was misquoted. But if the people need me and there's any motivation why not I can risk and come,"

 

Gyan is the all time leading goalscorer of the Black Stars, with 51 goals. He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, having smacked-in six goals and he is also the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup
