Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah, the financier of Berry Ladies, has recognized the achievements of Ampem Darkoa Ladies by awarding them with a cash prize of GHC 10,000 for successfully defending their league title.
In a thrilling final match at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Friday, May 12, 2023, Ampem Darkoa defeated Hasaacas Ladies 5-3.
The first half ended without any goals, but in the second half, Doris Boaduwaa, the leading scorer for Hasaacas, headed her team into the lead in the 60th minute.
However, Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah equalized for Ampem Darkoa in the 84th minute with a powerful strike that beat Grace Banwaa in goal, forcing the game into extra time.
With no winner emerging after 120 minutes of play, the match had to be decided through a penalty shootout.
Hasaacas' Success Ameyaa missed her penalty, while Ampem Darkoa's Ophelia Amponsah stepped up and converted the winning spot kick.
Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah was present at the game and personally handed over the cash prize to the team as a token of appreciation for their hard-fought victory.
