Ghana’s Ghana women's national under-20 football team have secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after battling to a 1-1 draw against Uganda women's national under-20 football team at the FUFA Stadium in Kampala on Saturday.
The result sealed qualification for the Black Princesses on aggregate following the1ir 2-1 first-leg victory in Accra last week.
Uganda made a strong start to the decisive encounter and grabbed the opening goal in the sixth minute, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime as they pushed to overturn the deficit.
However, Ghana responded positively in the second half and eventually found the crucial equaliser through Linda Owusu Ansah in the 78th minute.
Her goal restored parity on the day and effectively ended Uganda’s hopes of a comeback, sending the Black Princesses through to the global tournament.
The qualification extends Ghana’s impressive tradition in women’s youth football, marking an eighth consecutive appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The 2026 tournament is scheduled to take place in Poland later this year.
