Desmond Ofei, the coach of the Black Satellites, shared his team's winning strategy ahead of the 2023 African Games Men's Football tournament final.
After starting slowly with a draw against Congo, the Ghana U-20 team showed their strength with wins against Gambia, Benin, and Senegal to reach the final.
Speaking after defeating Senegal, Ofei explained, "Our strategy revolves around midfield dominance within a three-back system, supported by four midfielders."
He also talked about adapting tactics during matches, especially considering some players fasting. "Recognizing the fasting period of some players, we have tactically shifted to a back four when necessary, reinforcing the midfield with two holding midfielders and employing double wingers," Ofei elaborated.
Ghana's tactical flexibility paid off, with only one goal conceded and five scored in their last four matches, showing significant improvement.
As they prepare for the final against Uganda at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, Ofei is optimistic, encouraged by his team's tactical strength and recent successes.
