The male national U20 team, Black Satellites, have left the shores for Ghana for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship
The Black Satellites departed to Ivory Coast on Friday, July 24, 2026 to compete in the tournament schedule to take place later this month in the West African country.
The team rounded off their preparations for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, fighting back from a goal down to defeat Semper Fi 2-1 in a friendly match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Head coach Maxwell Konadu watched his side produce a spirited second-half display, overturning a first-half deficit with two well-taken goals to secure victory in their final warm-up fixture before departing for Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire.
Ghana have been drawn in a highly competitive Group B, where they will open their campaign against long-time rivals Nigeria before taking on Burkina Faso and Togo in what is widely regarded as one of the toughest groups in the tournament.
The WAFU B U-20 Championship carries added significance, serving as the qualifying competition for the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana will host.
