The senior men national team- Black Stars held their first training session in Charlotte on Tuesday night ahead of their epic coming international friendlies against North American giants Mexico and USA.

Coach Chris Hughton announced a 23-man squad for these games almost a week ago with most of the names in the line up expected despite having some notable absentees.

Thomas Partey returned to the team after missing out on the last international window due to injury but captain Andre Ayew has been overlooked this time around.

However, Daniel Amartey, Tariq Lamptey, Alexander Djiku and Osman Bukari, who were initially included to the list have all pulled out, also due to injuries.

They have been replaced with Jerome Opoku, Hamburger SV's Stephan Ambrosius and Turkish-based Kingsley Schindler.

Nineteen players trained today with the rest expected to join very soon including inform Kudus Mohammed who scored over the weekend for West Ham United in the Premier League.

Ghana will use these matches as the perfect avenue to test their strength ahead of the opening fixtures of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which starts next month and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which is scheduled for early next year.

The four-time African champions will face Mexico this Saturday, October 14, in Charlotte before they lock horns with the Yanks of the USA on Sunday in Tennessee, precisely in the capital Nashville on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
