Ghana's national team head coach, Chris Hughton, has unveiled a provisional 55-man squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Among the notable selections are five players from the Ghana Premier League, showcasing the coach's recognition of local talent.
Hearts of Oak midfielder, Ibrahim Salifu, and Asante Kotoko's Richmond Lamptey are among the local standouts in the squad.
Additionally, three players from Medeama Sporting Club have earned their places – striker Jonathan Sowah, defender Fataw Abdul Hamidu, and goalkeeper Felix Kyei.
Chris Hughton has until January 3 to finalize his squad, narrowing it down to the required 27 players for the 2023 AFCON, set to commence on January 13.
Ghana is placed in Group B, where they will face Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique in the group stage of the tournament.
