Ghana's head coach, Chris Hughton, has emphasized the importance of winning the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic.
Hughton recognizes the significant consequences that the match's outcome holds for his team's qualification chances for the next AFCON, and he is determined to secure the necessary result.
“Our strategy for the next match is to win. We are playing at home. We know we have to get the result and obviously, it’s a game we know the consequences if we don’t win. From here, we have a break,” he said after the game.
After the upcoming match, there will be a break, and the players will return to their respective clubs for pre-season preparations. Hughton hopes that the missing players from the current game will be available for the September fixture.
“The players will have to go back to their clubs and they will start preseason and we will be ready for the game in September. We have some players missing today so hopefully, those players will be available in September.
The coach remains optimistic and asserts that Ghana must triumph in the challenging encounter against the Central African Republic.
“We will be going into another difficult game against Central African Republic and we have to win,” he added.
With nine points, Ghana currently maintains its position at the top of Group E, demonstrating the team's strong performance in the competition thus far.
The focus now is on consolidating their lead and securing the necessary points to solidify their qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations.
