Bibiani Gold Stars coach, Frimpong Manso, has criticised Black Stars players, calling them "unpatriotic" and questioning their play intensity and commitment when handed call-ups.

His comments came after the Black Stars found themselves missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after a dismal run of results, so far, in their qualifying campaign.

Ghana are slumbering in third position in Group F after four rounds of matches with their ticket to the continental showpiece hanging by a thread.

“With this group (in AFCON QUALIFIERS), we should have easily qualified without any mathematical calculations," Coach Manso told Akoma FM.

“Our team lacked the commitment to die for the nation, Otto Addo should drop all players who are unwilling to play because, given what they are doing, our local players can outperform them."

There has long been a narrative that players handed Black Stars call-ups don't work hard enough, though part of that may be down to some of the player's silky style of play as they make things appear effortless on the pitch even when playing well.
