Ghanaians would have been left very amazed and anxious if Hearts of Oak youngster, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh had not been included in the Black Stars latest squad for the first international break of the 2022/23 football season.
Coach Otto Addo has named a 29 Black Stars man list ahead of their upcoming pre- World Cup friendlies against heavyweights Brazil and Nicaragua, all slated for later this month.
The mercurial forward was really outstanding for the 'Phobians' in the just ended campaign, having netted a scorpion-like sublime finish to help them win the FA Cup- an output which earned him a call up into the Black Stars in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers and the Kirin Cup tourney in Japan couple of months ago.
The former Black Satellites skipper continues to flourish with the Black Galaxies, reason he is the only home-based player in the squad, having scored in three of the four matches they played to propel them to the 2023 CHAN tournament, to halt the long standing abeyance of missing out in the last three editions.
Ghana will face Brazil on September 23, 2022 at the Stade de Oceane in Le Havre, France to test their strength and get themselves well poised for their South American opponents at the Mundial.
They will finish it off against Nicaragua on September 27, in Spain at the Estadio Francisco Artes Carrasco.
Ghana is placed in Group H of the 2022 FIFA World Cup alongside Portugal, South Korea and two time world champions Uruguay
