Techiman Heroes SC has been docked six points by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for fielding an unqualified player in a Division One League game against Wa Suntaa SC.
Wa Suntaa SC filed a protest against the Techiman-based second-tier league outfit for fielding Gabriel Adu, a player deemed unqualified due to double registrations, in a Division One League match-week 18 game.
Techiman Heroes FC were found guilty by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association over Adu's registration. Also, Gabriel Adu has been handed an indefinite ban from all football-related activities by the GFA.
Following the six-point deduction, Victory Club (VC) Warriors have leapfrogged Heroes to go on top of the 2023/24 Division One League Zone 1A table with 43 points.
VC Warriors are on the verge of emerging as the winners of the zone with just four games to end the 2023–24 season's campaign.
Coach Boniface Ayipa's side is expected to secure a 100% winning record in the remaining games to book themselves a spot in the Ghana Premier League playoffs.
VC Warriors are scheduled to make a trip to the North to battle it out with Wa Suntaa SC in the match-week 24 game on Friday, May 3, 2024.
