Real Tamale United moved considerably closer towards a Premier League return in the Access Bank Division One League Zone One A with a 3-0 home win over Wa Power SC on Saturday.
Mohammed Iddriss, Jonas Wisdom and Adam Okasha were on target for RTU, as the Northern Blues edged past the Upper West based club.
Tamale City also clinched a crucial 2-0 away win over Wa Sore Nante at the Malik Jabir Stadium.
Alkassim Mohammed Haruna's 35th-minute strike put the visitors ahead and they increased their lead in the 49th minute through forward' Damange Iddrisu Zakaria.
Elsewhere in Zone One B, Techimen Eleven Wonders recaptured first place with a nerve-cracking victory over Debibi United.
Midfielder Emmanuel Amamu scored twice in the 11th and 46thb minutes, before Osman Zakaria dusted it off with a 96th minute goal to secure the three points for Wonders as they elevated their standing with 38 points.
