After witnessing the Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, Dr Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe, a Board Member of Hearts of Oak, expressed optimism that the quality within the Ghana Premier League will soon overshadow the inclusion of foreign players in the Black Stars.
Reflecting on the matchday 14 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe commended the high standard of play exhibited by both teams. He emphasized that with improved talent and coaching in the local league, foreign players may struggle to secure spots in the national team squad in the future.
“The standard of play by both clubs was very good, and I must say I admired the way the players played yesterday,” he shared with Asempa FM.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe asserted that the focus should be on identifying the best local talents, providing them with quality coaching. He believes that with this approach, the need to invite foreign players to the Black Stars will diminish over time.
“If we can get such players in our Premier League division, then I think that very soon, there will be no need for a foreign player to be invited to the Black Stars.
“Why do I say so? Years gone by, we had such quality players but what we need now as the whole nation is to pick the best among what we have, get a good trainer and I can assure you that every soon, these foreign players we assemble at the Black Stars will be a thing of the past,” he added.
Hearts of Oak faced a 3-2 defeat against Asante Kotoko in the recent match, and they aim to bounce back when they encounter Nations FC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in the upcoming matchday 15 fixture.
