Legendary Mohammed Polo has charged new Black Stars coach Chris Hughton to end Ghana's long wait for a trophy at senior level.

The self-proclaimed 'football Gods' of Africa last won a senior title 40 years ago at the 1982 AFCON hosted by Libya.

Ghana placed second at the 2015 AFCON after losing a penalty shootout to Cote d'Ivoire and Polo in an interview with Bryt FM has set a daring target for Hughton and has stated that it is high time the lengthy trophy drought is immediately ended.

“I think he knows the players; we should listen to him about what he is bringing on board because we need nothing more than to return to winning ways.

"The AFCON trophy has eluded us for a longtime and it’s long overdue, we’ve been marking time for a long time.

“Exactly, to me is a task for him to win the trophy. They’ve taken the decision to appoint him because he’s been in the terrain for sometime now, so winning the AFCON should be a priority under Hughton." Polo added.

Hughton who served as technical advisor under erstwhile Ghana gaffer Otto Addo first assignment will be the 2023 AFCON qualifying match against Angola next month.
