Former Ghana national team head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, has made a return to the coaching scene by joining Division One League side, Accra Athletic Football Club, in preparation for the 2023/24 season.
Akonnor, aged 49, had been on a coaching hiatus since his departure from the position of head coach for the Black Stars in September 2021.
The former VfL Wolfsburg midfielder has now resumed active coaching duties, overseeing the second-tier team Accra Athletic Football Club. He recently led the team in a friendly match against Susubiribi Sporting Club in Akyem Old Tafo, as reported by ghanascoresnet.
Akonnor is currently guiding the Accra-based club through their pre-season preparations in anticipation of the upcoming 2023/24 Division One League, which is set to kick off next month.
The German-trained tactician brings a wealth of coaching experience to the table, having previously held coaching roles with Sekondi XI Wise, Hearts of Oak, Dreams FC, AshantiGold, and Asante Kotoko.
