Former England international Ryan Bertrand has encouraged the Ghana Football Association not to give up on their pursuit of players like Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Eddie Nketiah, who currently plays for Arsenal, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, a Nottingham Forest player, have been on the radar of the GFA as potential additions to the Ghana national team.
Ghana had hoped to secure their services for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but it seems the pursuit has been put on hold. However, Ryan Bertrand believes that the door should remain open for these players.
During his appearance on GhanaWeb’s Sports Check Show, the former Chelsea player stressed that these players need time to decide whether to commit to Ghana.
When asked about Ghana's potential continued pursuit of Nketiah and Odoi, Ryan Bertrand shared his opinion, saying, "I think you should."
He further explained, "You should not close the door on anyone, especially when fantastic individuals come to help the country through their performances."
"There are certainly some fantastic players out there who still need a little time to think and establish their careers in Europe. It would be great if more and more of them decided to join the Black Stars," as Ryan Bertrand emphasized on GhanaWeb’s Sports Check Show.
Both Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi remain eligible to play for Ghana, despite their prior appearances for England's national team.
