Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito says the MTN FA Cup provide a key platform for the Porcupine Warriors to revive their wobbling season after a difficult run in the Ghana Premier League.

Kotoko are winless in their last four league games, collecting just two points, with two defeats and two draws. During that spell, they have scored only three goals and conceded five, a slump that has stalled their title push and left them fifth on the table with five points behind leaders Medeama SC.

Zito acknowledges the team’s struggles but believes Wednesday’s FA Cup Round of 64 clash against Future Stars FC could serve as a turning point.

“So with the FA you only have one chance to play before the next chance, unlike the league it is a marathon; you can drop below and then climb up or you are in the middle then come and be first,” he told Asante Kotoko TV.

“The end justifies the means so I think this is a bigger opportunity for us to make amendments, for people to see that maybe it's a moment we have entered, not that we can’t play football. We can improve upon it and make amendments. So we start by fighting very hard to eliminate Future Stars. I know it will be difficult but not above Asante Kotoko.”

The cup match is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, at Okese Park, kicking off at 3pm.
