Kudakwashie Manachi's first half goal was enough for Medeama SC to narrowly edge lower division side Basake Holy Stars by 1-0 at the Akoon Park on Wednesday afternoon to cruise into the next round.
Abdul Fatawu Hamidu returned into the starting line up for Medeama with players like goalkeeper Abdul Jabal Adams, Kudakwashie Manachi, all getting their first start this season.
Basake Holy Stars started the game very well, with an approach where they stayed in their zone more often and tried to attack from the wings anytime they are with the ball.
Medeama SC however, looked very calm and relaxed to march the explosive start of the visitors which eventually got them the opener on the 34th minute through Kudakwashie Manachi- who scored his first of the season.
In the second half, the Mauves and Yellows returned just as they finished the first half and dictated the pace and pattern of the game to inflict total dominance on their opponents.
The Yellow and Blacks on some occasions tried making some goal incursions but are always stopped by the resolute and well-organised Medeama backline.
It ended 1-0 for Medeama SC after full time and have advanced to the round of 32 of the MTN FA Cup.
