Communication director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has commended the Ghana Education Service (GES) for its steadfast backing in coordinating the 2025 CAF African Schools Championship.
The tournament which officially commenced today (April 23) at the University of Ghana Stadium, had host nation' Ghana defeating Uganda 2-0 in the boys' category.
In the girls category, the Ghana U15 side secured a 1-0 win over Morocco. Jennifer Awuku notched the only goal in the second half to hand Ghana a promising start to the tournament, which visages 40-minute matches - 20 minutes per half.
"All the activities we are doing, the Ghana Education Service have their hand in it. The LOC manages the competition. Mr Ntow Ayeh, who is the head of PE in Greater Accra, is the Vice Chairman of the LOC," Asante Twum told Peace FM.
"So we and the schools in Accra and Legon area have met and had a lengthy discussion. We are looking forward to them being a part of the tournament not only on the pitch but also outside the pitch."
The 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship is taking place in Accra from April 23 to 26.
