The Ghana FA have announced the dates for the play off games to replace Premier League side Obuasi Ashantigold SC.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association arrived at a decision to relegate the Obuasi-based side to the third-tier of Ghana Football following their Match Betting and Fixing game against Inter Allies in the final game of the 2020/21 season.
Ashantigold SC won the game by 7-0 at the Len Clay Sports Stadium with videos and pictures of the game going viral of clear match manipulation and alleged Match Fixing.
After the GFA's thorough investigation which lasted several months, caught both sides in Match Betting with evidence from phone transactions of thousands of cedis between agents of both clubs which is against the rules and regulations of the game, thereby, demoting both sides to the Second Division of Ghana Football.
Both clubs appealed against the Disciplinary Committee's decision which was found without merit and as such, the decision to demote them stood.
The Execution Council of the Ghana Football Association decided to replace Ashantigold who maintained their status as a Premier League club after the said game and season into the 2021/22 season with a Division One side.
Inter Allies had already been relegated in the said season.
The decision was concluded that teams who finished second in the various three zones march it off in a play off game to decided who fills the shoes of Ashantigold SC.
The Ghana Football Association have, therefore, announced 4th to 8th August as the date for the play-off games amongst Tamale City FC, Ebusua Dwarfs and Liberty Professionals from Zone 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
