Administrative Manager for the Ghana League Clubs Association, GHALCA, Nana Oduro Nyarko has stated emphatically that the absence of Asante Kotoko from the competition hugely affected the finances of the competition.

In an interview with the media, he postulates that none of the six clubs gave the competition more than GH¢10,000 for a Match Day except Hearts of Oak throughout the tournament duration.

Asante Kotoko who finished top of the 2021/22 league season withdrew from the competition due to reasons best known to the club for their preseason campaign in Sudan.

He states that the involvement of Asante Kotoko would have boasted the strength of the tournament's revenue with their clouts and teeming supporters.

However, the absence of the club did not affect the quality of play of the tournament that Accra Great Olympics won on penalty shootouts against Berekum Chelsea.

"In terms of money, Kotoko’s absence affected our revenue, but quality of play was not affected in any way."

“With the exception of Hearts of Oak game which gave us something in the region of 10,000Gh, all the others did not even yield 1000Gh."

"If Kotoko had played in the competition, we would have gotten more money than we are getting now but as to whether it would have made the competition more competitive, i cant say for sure."
