Former Ghana international, Raphael Dwamena who died on Saturday, November 11, 2023, after collapsing on the field during an Albanian Super League match will be laid to rest in his native Ghana today February 16, 2024.

 


Footage which was in circulation shows that the player fell over by himself in the 24th minute of the match between Egnatia and Partizani.



Other players rushed over and, despite immediate medical intervention, the Albanian Football Federation said "the player unfortunately passed away."



The Ghana Football Association-assisted funeral will take place at the Adjiringanor Astro Turf at East Legon, Accra.

Thousands of mourners and well wishers from Ghana and abroad will file past the body to pay their last respects.




During his illustrious career, Dwamena featured in nine games for Ghana, netting two goals.



Dwamena, who joined Egnatia last year, had previously played for several European teams including Red Bull Salzburg, Austria Lustenau, FC Blau-Weiß Linz, FC Zürich, Levante and loan to Zaragoza as well as Danish Superliga outfit Vejle Boldklub.



He will be remembered for his unwavering love for God and humanity, and for propagating the word of God in wherever he found himself.
