Austrian national team player Michael Gregoritsch has shared his thoughts ahead of Austria’s upcoming international friendly against Ghana, highlighting the importance of the game as part of their preparations towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The experienced forward, who has made over 70 appearances for Austria, believes facing a strong African side will provide a different challenge and help assess their readiness against non-European opposition.

The 31-year-old who is currently on loan at FC Augsburg from Danish side Brøndby IF, described Ghana as a physically strong and side, making them an ideal opponent to test and assess themselves ahead of the big tournament.

“Ghana is a physically strong, technically well-trained team that can transition quickly. It’s a perfect test to see how we fare against non-European opponents. We’re looking forward to playing against an African team,” he said.

Austria will face Ghana on Friday, March 27, at the Ernst Happel Stadium at 17:00GMT (5:00pm)
