Ghana football legend, Mohammed Polo has highly commended the Black Stars for their victory over Central African Republic last Thursday to finish as winners of Group E in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana came from behind to beat the Wild Beasts 2-1 in the last round of matches at the Baba Yara Stadium in a sensational fashion to confirm their spot in Cote D'Ivoire early next year.

Louis Mafouta opened the scoring account on the 23rd minute for the travellers. Kudus Mohammed equalised just on the stroke of half time with a spectacular free kick before Ernest Nuamah snatched the winner subsequently to seal the win.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Gold in Accra, the ex- Black Stars attacker described the team's recent performance as a good one and was very impressed with how they responded after conceding first in the game.

"They played very well, this is what we are looking for, this is what we are expecting them to do and I think they showed the sort of identity of Ghana football of old.

“For them to come up from a goal down with that sort of confidence, though we are playing at home.

“I think the pressure too was on them but they were able to do exactly what they were supposed to do.

“I think it is a plus, we are getting somewhere," he added.

Chris Hughton's men will face Liberia on Tuesday, September 12, in a friendly to wrap up the first international window.
