Ghana's 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations group and opponents to be determined today in a highly anticipated draw which will be staged in Parc Des Expositions in the host country Cote D'Ivoire.
Global music icon and multiple award winner, Akon will take the stage as the host of the event in Abidjan later today.
Just like the last edition, 24 nations will be placed in six groups of four teams each, with the top two at the end of the group phase advancing into the round of sixteen, together with some third bests.
The Black Stars weren't really impressive in the qualifiers but managed to emerge winners of Group E with 12 points above Angola, Central African Republic and Madagascar with three wins and three draws.
The four-time African champions had to wait until the final round of matches last month to secure qualification after coming from a goal down to beat Central African Republic 2-1 in Kumasi to wrap up the qualification.
Following the appalling performance in the last edition where they recorded it worse ever AFCON campaign, Ghana have been put in pot 2 together with sworn rivals Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso and DR Congo.
However, Pot 1 comprises of host Cote D'Ivoire, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and reigning champions Senegal.
The 2023 AFCON will run from January 13, to February 11, 2024.
