Ghanaian football enthusiasts are urging the inclusion of Richmond Lamptey in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Asante Kotoko midfielder showcased an outstanding performance in their matchday 14 encounter against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

Formerly with Inter Allies, Lamptey displayed exceptional passing skills as the Porcupine Warriors fought back to secure a 3-2 victory, with Steven Mukwala scoring a brace and Isaac Oppong also finding the net for Kotoko.

Known for his consistent performances in the Ghana Premier League over the past seasons, Lamptey's stellar display prompted football fans to express their sentiments on social media, urging Black Stars coach Chris Hughton to consider inviting the midfielder to the upcoming AFCON tournament scheduled to be hosted in Ivory Coast next year.

In other news, Ghana has been placed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique for the 34th edition of AFCON, slated to run from January 13 to February 11.
