Assistant coach of Black Meteors, Godwin Attram states every country at the U-23 AFCON shouldn't be underrated since they all passed through qualification series to get there and added their ultimate aim is to book a place in Paris for the next Olympic Games.

Ghana en route to the tournament proper evicted Mozambique before sealing it at last with a 2-1 on aggregate win over Algeria after two legs to book a place in Morocco.

The male national U23 team began preparations for the tournament at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram weeks ago and will use the pre-tournament tour to firm up preparations for the tournament.

The team left Accra in two batches and arrived in Cairo on Monday evening. The team’s base is however in the city of Alexandria where they will hold intensive training sessions ahead of the tournament.

Ghana has been housed in Group A alongside host Morocco, Guinea and Congo.

In an interview with Radio Gold in the capital, the ex- Black Stars midfielder has admitted how tougher the competition will be but added they will drive in with strong and winning mentality as they hope to finally qualify for the Olympic Games which has eluded the country since 2004.

"It’s very tough, a country that played in the qualifier and qualified meaning they are very good, you can’t underrate anyone."

“There is no underdog in this tournament, all the countries are there to participate and qualify and we are going with a different mentality, very strong mentality, winning mentality, make sure the country will be safe and qualify to France as the technical head, Ibrahim Tanko always preaches to us.”

Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side will play African U23 Champions Egypt in a friendly match on June 15 and will also engage in another test game before emplaning to Morocco.
