Real Madrid's Antonio Rudiger has expressed his deep affinity for Ghana, considering it a second home whenever he visits.
As he gears up for the upcoming pre-season training, Rudiger recently made a personal trip to Accra, Ghana. While Rudiger represents Germany internationally, he has ancestral ties to Sierra Leone and frequently travels to the African continent.
Although the precise purpose of his visit to Ghana remains undisclosed, speculation suggests that he is enjoying a holiday there. Ghana has become an increasingly popular destination for expatriates and footballers, particularly those with Ghanaian heritage.
During his time in Accra, Rudiger was spotted enjoying himself with a group of young footballers on Tuesday morning. Despite being on a break, the 30-year-old took time out to engage in personal training and interact with other aspiring footballers.
In an interview with Kickgh.com after his training session on Tuesday in Accra, Rudiger openly expressed his love for Ghana and his sense of belonging there. He emphasized that although he is of Sierra Leonean descent, he believes Africa is a shared heritage for all, and he feels grateful to be in Ghana.
"First of all, it's not my first time being in Ghana and for me, I feel at home.Though, I am a Sierra Leonean but I think Africa is for us all so I am grateful to be here," Rudiger said in an interview with Kickgh.com.
Before joining his Real Madrid teammates for the pre-season, the German international will participate in various activities in Accra. Real Madrid, the 14-time European champions, will depart for the United States on July 19 to continue their preparations for the new season.
Among their pre-season friendlies in America, they are set to face the renowned English club Manchester United, as reported by realmadrid.com.
