Ghana's coach, Chris Hughton, has issued an apology following his team's defeat against the United States of America (USA).

The Black Stars faced a 4-0 defeat against the US Men's national team at the Geodis Stadium in Nashville during their final international friendly in October on Wednesday morning.

During a post-match press conference, the 64-year-old expressed his regret over the game's outcome.

"I apologize for the performance and the results," said the former coach of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

The USA opened the scoring just 10 minutes into the game through Giovanni Reyna, the Dortmund midfielder. Captain Christian Pulisic then doubled the lead for the host from the penalty spot nine minutes later.

The USA continued their dominant performance as Monaco attacker Folarin Balogun found the back of the net, extending the USA's lead in the 22nd minute.

Shortly before half-time, Reyna added the fourth goal for the United States from an indirect free-kick in the box, sealing victory for the host.

In their previous game against Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium, Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat.

Over the two games, the Black Stars conceded six goals and were unable to score in either match.

The Black Stars will now shift their focus to the World Cup qualifiers in November. Ghana will commence the qualifiers against Madagascar on November 13 and face Comoros on November 21, followed by the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast next year.
