Veteran football administrator, Alhaji Abdul Karim Grusah has disregarded Asamoah Gyan's quest to feature at the next World Cup, stating he should rather be made an advisor or an ambassador
Gyan couple of days ago, granted an interview with BBC where disclosed he hasn't retired yet and is even contemplating to play at the next World Cup which will be staged in Qatar in November.
Now these comments has sparked a huge hullabaloo in the country with divided opinions among the football fans as some believe his service is still needed whiles others think he is finished in the game.
The King Faisal Bankroller believes the ex- Al Ain striker is done with football due to fitness and should rather be included in the squad as an advisor especially to the young players in the team. He told Happy FM in Accra;
"Personally, I don’t support him or let’s make him an advisor. After Legon Cities, I know he has begun his coaching badges. I don’t agree with him. This is my opinion. He is the same person who said the penalty against South Africa was soft and now he wants to play."
“He played for Legon Cities and we saw it. If the coach thinks, he would be of help to him, that’s fine. If the coach thinks he wants Asamoah Gyan, I will support him 100 percent. For me I don’t support it. He should play and let us see before the world cup. In my opinion, he needs to justify."
“I don’t support his decision to play for the Black Stars at the World Cup. He should rather join the team as an ambassador or advisor."
Asamoah Gyan still remains Ghana and Africa's all time top scorer at the Mundial with five goals.
