FC Samartex left-back, Isaac Afful has expressed how excited he was after getting his first ever Black Stars call-up and admitted is something he never anticipated even though it has been a long time dream.
The 25-year-old was included in Otto Addo's 25-man squad list for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double-header against Sudan with the first leg slated for this week.
Afful was handed his debut call up after his impressive performance for the Ghanaian champions in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League and the ongoing Premier League.
Reacting to his call up, the enterprising lateral stated he was very elated upon hearing the news and is looking forward to giving out his all to prove he deserved the invite.
"Although is everybody's dream to play for their national teams but I never expected and believed I will earn Black Stars invite as soon as possible."
"Like I said it isn't easy but is everybody's motive to play for their national teams so getting this opportunity I was very happy. I won't be swollen headed and will also fight hard and deliver the same performance that gave me the recognition."
Ghana will play Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 11 before traveling to Libya for the reverse fixture at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benina, Libya, on Tuesday, October 14, 2024.
