Ex-Ghana international, Sam Johnson, fondly called "Foyoo" has stated that he will be surprised if the Black Stars secure a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Ghana are on the brim of failing to secure qualification for the continental showpiece after an uninspiring run of results, so far, in their qualifying campaign.
Ghana are slumbering in third position in Group F after four rounds of matches with their ticket to the continental showpiece hanging by a thread.
Speaking to Graphic Sports in an interview, Sam Johnson said Ghana’s chances of qualifying for AFCON now depend on unrealistic permutations after a disappointing loss to Sudan.
"It’s sad we’re now praying for Sudan to lose their remaining games so we can qualify. God doesn’t work like that because the Sudanese also worship the same God," the 50-year-old former defender stated.
"If we qualify for AFCON, it will be a miracle that has never happened before. Let’s focus on the World Cup and organise ourselves better. If we make it to AFCON, I’ll be surprised but happy," he said.
The Black Stars will be out hoping to vindicate themselves in their impending 2025 AFCON qualifying games against Angola and Niger next month (November)
