Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has taken a huge swipe at the incumbent President Nana Akuffo Addo after it was announced by the Ghana FA that the CAF has rejected the Baba Yara Stadium since it is currently not in a good state.

The facility in Kumasi has recently been hosting the Black Stars and was the only standard venue, since the others have been in a very poor state.

However, it has been rejected by the Confederation of African Football recently after Ghana's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola with many of the indigenous football faithful siding with the decision as they all admit the venue isn't fit.

Lots of people have shared their opinion on the issue with President Nana Akuffo Addo calling for the jettisoning of the current NSA boss Dodzie Numekevor.

Joining the conversation, John Mahama, who will be leading the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming General Election, has called out the sitting government and stated it is very embarrassing for a football country like Ghana to be in this situation.

“This is the first time in history that CAF is saying Ghana does not have an approved stadium to host a Category Three match.

“With all this, they still said we should clap for them because they have done well.

“Meanwhile, they spent over 85 million Ghana cedis on stadium rehabilitation, all for them to share and spend. Some of the issues, when you hear them, are surprising.”

The Black Stars in the coming October international break, will have to look for a neutral grounds in either Nigeria or Cote D'Ivoire for their home game against Sudan.
