Former Black Stars midfielder, Derek Boateng has called out the GFA to always ensure there are better pitches to host the senior national team in every international window since it is one of their main duties.

Ghana currently, has no pitch that meet the FIFA/CAF standard with the Baba Yara Stadium recently rejected leading to it closure for renovation so as the Ohene Gyan Stadium in Accra.

The Ghana FA will have to ensure their pitches are in a good state before next month or they will have to host Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers at a neutral grounds which could be in any of their neighbouring West African countries.

Reacting to this disgraceful situation, the former Getafe and Fulham middleman, lashed out on the Ghana FA to always ensure the pitches are of high quality to help the Black Stars exhibit their best and grind the needed results in their subsequent games.

“The FA needs to wake up and do something because this is their job. They need to make sure that all the fields are good for the players to play. The only thing they care about, for me I will say it and say it every single day, it's money.

"We have players in Europe playing in a good field. They will come and they will play in a bad pitch and you expect them to perform and you expect them to win games and if the win is not coming then it will be a problem,” Derek Boateng said in an interview with 3Sports.

Derek Boateng, who is currently into coaching, enjoyed a fantastic twelve-year spell with the Black Stars and made the squad for the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
