The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has terminated its contract with Joseph Laumann as Black Stars assistant coach after just ten months of his appointment.
The Moroccan-born German coach was announced in March 2024 as part of the newly formed Black Stars backroom staff, serving as a deputy coach to Otto Addo.
However, his contract has been abrogated by the West African nation after failing to qualify for the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to be staged in Morocco later this year.
The Black Stars failed to make it to the AFCON for the first time since 2004 after finishing at the bottom of the 2025 AFCON qualification group, where Angola and Sudan secured the tickets to the tournament.
The Ghana Football Association on Tuesday announced that a decision has been made by revamping the technical team of the Black Stars, and the contract of Joseph Laumann has been terminated.
Ghana U20 head coach Desmond Ofei has been appointed as a replacement for Laumann, with experienced German tactician Winfried Schafer joining as technical advisor.
Former Ghana internationals John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda have been maintained as assistant coach and goalkeepers' trainer of the Black Stars.
