Technical Director of French club SC Bastia, Eric Joel, has expressed satisfaction after touring the state-of-the-art Kenpong Football Academy in Winneba.

 

The Frenchman, who arrived in Ghana on a working visit last Friday upon invitation by Kenpong, having struck a partnership deal with Kenpong Football Academy.

 

"This is magnificent," he noted. "It matches international standards. I must admit I am highly impressed with what I have witnessed here, considering the capital-intensive nature of projects like this," he remarked.

 

Joel described the facilities at Kenpong Football Academy as meeting international standards, which will be beneficial to both Bastia and the academy. 

 

"With this facility, I believe our collaborative efforts will reach new heights. I have drawn a lot of positives from this visit and believe it will help our cause."

 

As part of the partnership programme, three players from Kenpong Academy are currently with the Ligue 2 side.

 

Eric Joel, businessman Kennedy Agyepong (Kenpong), and Sudan coach Kwasi Appiah met with Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif on Monday, July 15, 2024. 

 

The meeting with the Minister was centered on how Bastia can support the Winneba-based academy and contribute to the development of football in Ghana.

 

Eric Joel is also expected to pay a courtesy call to the academy's patron, former president J.A. Kufuor, to discuss the academy's prospects.
