Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies have secured qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating Nigeria’s Edo Queens 1-0 in extra time to win their WAFU Zone B qualifying final 3-2 on aggregate.

The decisive encounter took place in Cairo, Egypt, where the two sides resumed the match from the beginning of extra time following a ruling that overturned the original outcome.

Ampem Darkoa held their ground during the additional 30 minutes and found the breakthrough needed to settle the contest in their favour, sealing their place in the continental showpiece.

The victory completes a crucial task for the ‘Nana Mma’ girls, who will remain in Egypt to compete in the main tournament after overcoming their Nigerian opponents.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies have been drawn in Group B, where they will face Moroccan side AS FAR, Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies and Mali’s USFAS Bamako.

Anokye Frimpong’s girls will now shift their attention to the group stage as they prepare to test themselves against some of the continent’s elite clubs.
