Reigning Ghana Women's Premier League title holders, Ampem Darkoa Ladies were held to a thrilling draw by Bayelsa Queens at the ongoing 2022 WAFU Zone B Champions League qualifiers in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.
Nigerian champions Bayelsa Queens and Ampem Darkoa maintained their unbeaten streak in the CAF Women's Champions League qualification tournament after playing out a 0-0 draw at the Stade Yamoussoukro on Wednesday evening.
Ampem Darkoa commenced their campaign with 3-0 win over Burkina Faso side Union Sportive des Forces (USFA) while Bayelsa Queens also recorded a 5-0 victory over Togolese club Athleta FC on Sunday.
Bayelsa Queens looked dangerous in the early minutes of the fixture but the backline of the Techiman based Women's Premier League side were resolute to deal with every inroads from the Nigerians.
A magnificent save from goalkeeper Safiatu Salifu on the 13th minute and a timely goal-line clearance from Veronica Osei after the half-hour mark aided Ampem Darkoa from conceding before recess.
The first half ended in a scoreless draw at the Stade Yamoussoukro.
In the second half, Bayelsa Queens continued their impressive display as they staged an intense pressure on the Ghanaians but their attempts went futile.
Bayelsa Queens enjoyed majority of the game possession but their attackers couldn't find the back of the net with the chances created as well as the set-pieces awarded to them.
The entire duration of the fixture ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving both clubs with four points each in Group B after two games.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies will battle out with Athleta FC of Togo whilst Bayelsa Queens will lock horns with USFA in the final games of Group B on Saturday.
