FC Samartex are the 2024 Ghana Super Cup champions after pouncing on Emmanuel Mamah's header in the last ten minutes to narrowly defeat Nsoatreman FC by 1-0 in an epic final at the new TnA Stadium.
Nurudeen Amadu named a very strong starting XI with goalkeeper Kofi Baah in goal, Ebenezer Acquah skippered the side but were without two key figures Baba Musah Hamadu and Evans Osei-Owusu.
On the other hand, coach Yaw Preko had majority of his first team players available with the likes of goalkeeper Sabi Acquah Ferdinand getting his first start, Issaka Mohammed, Walid Neymar, Ebenezer Sekyere, Abdul Rahaman, all in the line up.
FC Samartex looked dominant over Nsoatreman FC in terms of possession, chances creation, shots on targets and others.
Hilary Adabo made a great run towards goal and shot from the edge of the box but was palmed out brilliantly to a wasted corner kick.
Huge penalty appeal for Nsoatreman FC after Collins Kudjoe appeared to have been brought down in the box but ended up getting booked as referee Daniel Laryea thinks otherwise.
In the second half, Nsoatreman FC returned on a blistering note and also created some decent chances but called goalkeeper Kofi Baah to action on few occasions.
Subsequently, the Ghanaian champions settled in the game again and began to make incursions notably a great volley from Michael Epson but was well checked by Sabi Ferdinand.
Finally, FC Samartex snatched the lead through Emmanuel Mamah who leaped high to connect into the net from a free kick on the 80th minute. Just what they had been hunting for.
Nsoatreman's efforts to level things up all proved futile as it finished 1-0 after full 90+4 minutes.
