Abdul Fatawu Hamid, the defender for Medeama Sporting Club, has received his second call-up to the Black Stars squad in preparation for the upcoming friendly matches against Mexico and the United States of America.
Last month, Hamid earned his first call-up and was even given a starting role in Ghana's 3-1 victory over Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Head Coach Chris Hughton has announced a 23-man squad for the international friendlies this month, which includes the return of Tariq Lamptey from Brighton and Hove Albion. Lamptey had missed the previous international break due to injury but has since returned to action for his club.
Additionally, Thomas Partey is back in the squad after missing the previous international break due to a muscular injury.
Ghana is set to face Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on October 14, followed by a match against the United States of America on October 17, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Hughton intends to use these two friendlies to prepare the team for the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers in November and the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.
