Medeama defender Nurudeen Abdulai has received his first call-up to the Black Stars for their crucial clashes against Madagascar and Comoros in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The 19-year-old, instrumental in Medeama's Ghana Premier League triumph in the 2022/23 season, is seen by the Black Stars' technical team, led by Chris Hughton, as a talented player capable of strengthening the team's defense.

Abdulai featured in 30 matches during the Yellow and Mauves' title-winning campaign, scoring three goals. His contributions earned him four Man of the Match awards, highlighting his significance to the team.

In the new season, Abdulai continues to play a key role, making 10 appearances so far.

He becomes the third Medeama player to receive a call-up under Hughton, who took charge in March this year, showcasing the quality of the Ghana Premier League champions as they prepare for the CAF Champions League group stage later this month.

Black Stars aim to rebound from recent defeats to Mexico and the United States of America in international friendlies as they prepare to face familiar opponents Madagascar and Comoros in crucial qualifiers.

Their first match will be against Madagascar at the Baba Yara Stadium on November 17, followed by a trip to Moroni to face Comoros.
