Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has handed a late call up to Medeama SC left-back Fatawu Hamidu ahead of the friendly encounter against Liberia.

The lanky lateral is coming in as replacement for Baba Abdul Rahman who per reports has left camp due to injury, and is returning to Greece quickly to start his rehabilitation.

Rahman, made the starting line up when Ghana finally booked their spot at the 2023 AFCON after a precious 2-1 win over Central African Republic last Thursday in Kumasi.

Fatawu Hamidu was sensational last season for the Mauves and Yellows and played an integral role in helping them win the league for the first time, with 19 appearances and 2 goals to his belt.

He becomes the second home-based footballer in the squad at the moment alongside teammate Jonathan Sowah- who will both hope for their dream Black Stars debut against the Lone Stars.

The game is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
