Ghana coach Chris Hughton has attributed the Black Stars' defeat to the Tricolors of Mexico in Saturday's international friendly to the North Americans familiarity with the Bank of America Stadium pitch in Charlotte, USA.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mexico, which marks Chris Hughton's first defeat as Ghana coach, courtesy second half goals from Hirving Lozano and Uriel Antuna.

Hughton in an interview with the media after the match said the Mexicans outplayed his side to secure victory because they were used to the turf.

“I think we knew we were up against a very good Mexican team playing at home on a surface that they are used to so we knew it was going to be a tough opposition,” Hughton told the press

“I thought in the first half period we coped well even though we didn’t create the amount of chances that we would have liked to have done but I think we had reasonable good control of the game.”

Ghana will face the United States of America (USA) in their final friendly of the October international break on Wednesday at 12:30 A.M at the Geodis Park in Tennessee.
