Black Stars technical advisor, Chris Hughton says Michael Essien is his greatest Ghanaian player of all-time.
Michael Essien played for the Black Stars for more than a decade, featuring at two World Cups and several African Nations Cup.
He signed for Chelsea from Olympic Lyon in 2005, going on to win the English Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and a host of others.
He had stints with Real Madrid, AC Milan and Panathinaikos.
Ghana will lock horns with Brazil and Nicaragua later this month.
Chris Hughton believes that Michael Essien is his greatest Ghanaian footballer to have ever lived.
"I would have to say that my all-time greatest Ghanaian footballer would be Michael Essien," he said on TV3.
"One because he was in England, so I saw a lot of him when he played. I have had the pleasure of meeting him on one or two occasions to speak with him, and he was a very influential player in what was the turnaround in what we are seeing in Chelsea Football Club," he explained.
