Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo says that putting together the squad was very difficult ahead of the pre-World Cup friendlies.
He insisted that it was very close between some players, but he had to make some decisions.
Ghana will face Brazil in France tomorrow, before taking on Nicaragua in Spain on Tuesday.
Tariq Lamptey, Inaki Williams, Mohammed Salisu, Ransford-Yeboah and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh all received their maiden call-up.
Several connoisseurs and Ghanaian criticised the decision to snub in-form Joseph Paintsil from the squad.
Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in Group H of the mundial in Qatar.
Speaking ahead of the Brazil clash, Otto Addo admitted that it was a close call between some players but he had to make a decision.
"To put together the squad was difficult because some decisions were very very close. We are happy to have Tariq Lamptey who is a solid Premier League player especially because he is very very young and very fast," said Addo.
